Ashley Burdett scored first college career goal

What an exciting weekend for Ashley and her parents! As a freshman at Utah Valley University, Ashley hadn't been getting quite the amount of playing time she had hoped for. But everything changed for her this weekend. She played the game of her life when Utah Valley University met up with University of Wyoming in Pocatello. She played 60 minutes that game. Then they played University of California @ Davis and Ashley scored the one and only goal for the team. She played 70 minutes in that game. We were so proud of her and her hard work!

Ashley had a great soccer game on Saturday down in Cedar City. We weren't able to be there. But she got more playing time and felt she had really played well and contributed to their 3-2 win. We sure miss her!

Breakfast Smoothie

Here is what I prepare each Sunday. 6 days of green smoothie ingredients for our breakfast drink for the week. Guy and I drink almost 30 ounces of this every morning. I blend it all up in our Vita Mix. The ingredients are: Spinach, Kale, Juice of 1 lemon, Pear (or apple), Banana, 1/8 of a fresh Pineapple, a chunk of fresh ginger, Parsley, 2 stalks of celery and a cucumber. It's crazy !!! The fruit helps make it palatable. If I die of cancer after drinking this "stuff" every morning, I'll be ticked off.

EMPTY NESTERS

This has been a monumental week! Guy and I have been married for 27 years next week, and we just became officially "Empty Nesters!" Ashley moved out last week to attend Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Her college soccer team started having their practices (3 a days). She's learning many things (like how to write a check, grocery shop, etc. -- things I should have taught her long ago -- but she was my BABY !!) All good things come to an end. We are really proud of her and the choices she has made so far. She has several guys after her. She even met one in Tucson when she went down there for a visit. Good luck with soccer Ash!!! Go UVU !!!!

Trip to Tucson - Aug 08

We had so much fun in Tucson this trip with Brad, Marilee and sweet little baby Laya. I have to admit, we're pretty obsessed with her. She is so cute as she is trying so hard to talk and is very successful with many words. She gave Papa and Nana lots of hugs and giggles. She is non-stop action. Such a busy, curious little girl! Marilee made some yummy home made pizza. We had fun jogging and working out with workout videos.

Nana takes Laya shopping at Target. Laya liked her goggle sun glasses at first, then she didn't really want to keep them on. If she only knew how they would protect her eyes from that hot Tucson sun !!

Dinner at Magpie's. We tried to show Laya how to color, but she just wanted to eat the crayons!
